Rules & rule groups

Organise your rules into groups and make them context-aware

Rules are the heart of a strategy. They turn a vague idea ("I trade breakouts") into a concrete checklist you can follow on every trade and measure yourself against.

You manage them on the strategy's "Rules" tab.

Groups

Rules live inside groups — think of groups as folders that keep related rules together. Every new strategy starts with two:

  • Entry Criteria
  • Exit Criteria
Add your own with "Add Group" — common extras are Risk Management, Confirmation or Market Conditions. Two groups can't share the same name. You can drag groups to reorder them.

Rules

Inside a group, click "Add Rule". Each rule has:

  • Title (required) — the rule itself, e.g. "Price closed above the 9 EMA". Placeholder: "Rule title..."
  • Description (optional) — extra detail or context. Placeholder: "Add description (optional)..."
Drag rules within a group to reorder them.

"Show when" — context-aware rules

Each rule has a "Show when" setting that controls when the rule appears:

  • "Always" — the rule is always part of the checklist.
  • "Winner" — show this rule when reviewing a winning trade.
  • "Loser" — show this rule when reviewing a losing trade.
  • "Breakeven" — show this rule on break-even trades.
💡 Use "Winner" / "Loser" for review questions that only make sense after the outcome is known — for example a "Loser" rule like "Did I move my stop?" keeps post-loss reviews focused without cluttering your entry checklist.

Editing and deleting

  • All edits save automatically ("Saving..." → "Saved").
  • Deleting a group removes the group and all its rules — you'll be asked to confirm ("Delete this group?"). Deleting a single rule asks "Delete this rule?". Both actions can't be undone.

How this powers your stats

The rules you define here become a checklist on every trade you attach to the strategy. TradeTrack then reports, on the "Overview" tab, how often each rule was followed and whether following your rules improves your win rate — see Strategy statistics.
