Attaching a strategy to a trade

Tag every trade with the setup you traded

A strategy only becomes useful once your trades are attached to it — that's what fills the statistics and rule-compliance reports. This is the single most important habit: tag every trade with the setup you traded.

Selecting a strategy on a trade

When you add or edit a trade, find the "Strategy" field. Click it to open the picker:

  • Use "Select strategy" and search with "Search strategies" to find the right one.
  • Don't have a matching strategy yet? Use "Create new strategy" without leaving the trade.
  • To remove it, use "Clear selection".
Once attached, the trade shows up under the strategy's "Trades" tab and feeds its "Overview" statistics.

Following your rules on a trade

If the strategy has rules, you can mark which ones you actually followed on that trade. Rules with "Show when" set to "Winner", "Loser" or "Breakeven" appear depending on how the trade closed; "Always" rules appear on every trade.

This is what makes rule-compliance reporting possible.

💡 Be honest when checking off rules. The value of compliance tracking comes from comparing your results when you followed the plan vs. when you didn't — and that only works if the checklist reflects reality.

What you get back

On the strategy's "Overview" tab, TradeTrack splits your performance into:

  • "Rules followed" — win rate on trades where you followed ≥70% of the rules.
  • "Rules skipped" — win rate on trades where you followed less than 70%.
  • "Per-rule follow rate" — how often each individual rule was followed.
If those two win rates differ a lot, your rules are doing their job. See Strategy statistics for the full breakdown.
