Creating a strategy
Describe your setup, then add its rules

Creating a strategy takes two steps: first you describe it, then you add its rules. You can change everything later.
On the Strategies page, click "Create Strategy" (or "Create Your First Strategy" if you don't have any yet).
Step 1 — General Information
This step is titled "General Information": "Add an icon, choose a colour, and name your strategy."
1. Add an icon and colour (optional). Click "Add Icon" to pick an emoji and "Choose a Color" to pick a colour. These help you recognise the strategy at a glance in lists and on trades.
2. Name your strategy (required). Fill in "Strategy Name" — for example Silver Bullet or AMD Pattern (the placeholder shows "e.g., Silver Bullet, AMD Pattern"). The name must be unique; if it already exists you'll see "A strategy with this name already exists".
3. Add a short description (optional). Use the "Short description" field to note what the setup is and when to use it. A character counter shows how much space is left.
4. Click "Next" to continue (or "Cancel" to discard).
💡 Two notes are created for you automatically — "Strategy Description" and "How to Use" — ready to fill in later from the "Notes" tab.
Step 2 — Trading Strategy Rules
This step is titled "Trading Strategy Rules": "List your rules, track and optimise your strategy."
Two rule groups are created for you by default:
- "Entry Criteria"
- "Exit Criteria"
For each group you can:
- Click "Add Rule" to add a rule. Each rule has a title (placeholder "Rule title...") and an optional description ("Add description (optional)...").
- Set "Show when" on a rule to control when it appears on a trade's checklist: "Always", "Winner", "Loser" or "Breakeven".
- Drag rules to reorder them ("Drag to reorder").
💡 Reuse rules you already wrote. Under "Import rules from rule set", choose an existing rule set ("Choose a rule set…") and click "Apply" to copy all its groups and rules as a starting point.
Your edits save automatically — you'll see "Saving..." then "Saved" as you work.
When you're done, click "Finish". Your new strategy opens on its details page, ready to use.
Editing later
Everything here can be changed afterwards from the strategy's "Rules" tab, and the icon, colour and name from the strategy header. Nothing is locked in.
